Nigeria super eagles have managed to get a point against the South African players to seal their qualification to African cup of nation, 2019.
An own goal gave Nigeria the lead in the 8th minute. But, just about a few minutes to go in the first half of the match, the South African players responded with a beautiful goal to make super eagles work harder.
Although no goal was conceded again in the second half, It’s not to say both sides didn’t work tirelessly.
A goal almost happened earlier in the game when Ahmed Musa, a one-time Nigeria savior defeated the South African defense before squaring for Samuel Kalu to finish into an empty net. It was however quickly canceled by one of the assistant referees with the excuse of an offside.
The Bafana Bafana after leveling up the score kept threatening to take the lead, but the super eagles defended the 1-1 score until the end of the first half.
The second half was not one with several chances. This Did not stop Musa and Tau from continuous pushing. For a moment, there was joy in Musa’s heart as he thought he had scored, This joy was cut short by an offside call.
Nigeria super eagles are now sure of top two finish in the group E, so there is a reason to jubilate after all.
In the end, the super eagle got just a point at FNB stadium in Johannesburg. A position strong enough to seal participation in AFCON 2019.
